Our Gen Z are not cockroaches
Chief Justice’s ‘Cockroach’ remark on a microscopic recalcitrant and undisciplined unemployed youth of the country led Abhijeet Dipke, a political communication strategist to form a digital movement in the name of ‘Cockroach Janta Party’. This digital campaign gained momentum by leaps and bounds and soon secured millions of Instagram followers mostly from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
It forced him to conspire with opposition strategists and to restart his protest. In his protest most of the opposition leaders, intellectuals, and eminent personalities including Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, Sagarika Ghosh, Arundhati Roy, Sisodia, Prakash Raj, etc. visited Jantar Mantar. The JNU Dhapli gang also did not miss the opportunity to show their presence by demanding ‘freedom’ from unknown bondage. We also see several faces whom we have seen in such previous protests.
Though it was said to be a student’s protest against exams malpractices and weaknesses in the exam system it followed the old pattern of agitation which we have already witnessed in Protest against CAA, Kisan Andolan etc. We have seen in this protest vulgar and indecent dresses and behavior of certain so-called students. We have heard in this protest anti-Modi slogans, call for restoration of Art. 370 and cutting remarks against Sanatan. We also heard Faiz’s song ‘ Bus Nam Rahega Allha ka’. The Zomato and Swiggy delivery partners were seen delivering hot stuff throughout the day and night at Jantar Mantar – the site of the protest by the orders of unknown people mostly from US and middle east countries. Thus, CJP is nothing but old wine in a new bottle.
The presence of Sonam Wangchuk was no more than Mannequins in a show room. He saw the protest as an opportunity for him self to project himself as a reformer and a social activist. He wanted to remove the stain which he self-goaled by making a statement to lead Chinese troops into India. But Kejriwal’s strategy stopped him to lead the show. While he was in the hunger strike his strategists including the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party Abhijeet Dipke were enjoying good food at their places of stay. It is interesting to note that most of the CJP’s leaders and strategists were staying at costly hotels which were allegedly arranged by Aam Admi Party funds. The way the ruckus was created after the administrative interference, shows the presence of anti-social elements affiliated with certain opposition parties.
CJP’s fist demand is to obtain the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. But why is Dharmendra Pradhan on the hit list of the CJP? Question papers were leaked at several times even during the period of the Congress. When Smt. Smriti Irani was the education Minister papers leaked but no one demanded the resignation of the Minister. NEET exam is conducted by an independent agency i.e National Testing Agency. The NTA is independent and works under its chairman. But CJP is not demanding the resignation of the chairman. The reason lies some where else. It has a deeper connotation. It is Dharmendra Pradhan who has brought about radical changes in the contents of CBSE text books. He has ventured to break the communist mind set of looking at history. Now Mughals are not recognized as great but they are now treated as looters and terrorists. This has offended the whole lot of the Congress’s eco-system. Right from George Soros to Kapil Sibbal, from Rahul Gandhi to Sagarika Ghosh and Prakash Raj, from Kejriwal to Sonam Wangchuk and Dhapli Gang are agitated and want to fight to the finish. It is therefore no wonder that a large number of Muslims were seen at Jantar Mantar. Even Kisans from Punjab have been asked to come in large numbers in busses and trains to deceit the police.
There is now no doubt that the agitation which was ostensibly started for students has been openly hijacked by political groups and has now become a political drama to topple the Modi government. The history of paper leak is quite old. Even in the period of Congress papers of important examinations like AIMS (2006), ICSI (2007), CLAT (2009), AIEEE (2011) SSC (2012) were leaked but this type of hue and cry was not raised. But this does not mitigate the importance of reforms in the examinations system. Either the people sitting at the helm of affairs are not vigilant or there is some fault in the system. In both the cases students suffer and it brings a bad name to the existing government. The faith of the people in the system is a necessity for peace and good law & order situation in the country.
It is now high time to constitute a committee to look into the whole affair and to suggest long term and short-term measures to tackle the problem. Online examination is perhaps the best way to prevent leakage and ensure transparency. At present, however, the infrastructure to conduct online examination in the country is not adequate to accommodate such a large number of examinees. It is therefore necessary to built adequate infrastructure slowly and subtly. Meanwhile, preliminary examination should be introduced where a large number of candidates appear in examination. This preliminary examination should be of qualifying nature and its marks should not be added in the final result. After the preliminary examination the main exam should be conducted online. Once the facility for online examination becomes adequate to tackle large number of candidates, preliminary examination can be skipped.
Now it is the responsibility of political parties and social activists to remain calm when any such issue crops up. Each problem has a solution but politicizing every issue is dangerous for the country. Unfortunately, certain political parties while opposing Modi have acquired anti-national attitude. This is highly dangerous for the country. Our Gen Z are not cockroaches and will act prudently.
